Compete for the Miss Rodeo America Crown
To compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America, a contestant must win her state competition and carry her state title into the national competition. Additionally, she must meet the contestant eligibility rules and regulations as set forth by the Miss Rodeo America Pageant.
The rewards for competing in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant are numerous. In addition to the many gifts and awards presented to contestants from gracious sponsors, young women are given the opportunity to garner one of the richest experiences of their lives and at the same time create solid foundations for their future endeavors. Financial assistance to further their educations is available through MRA scholarship awards. Miss Rodeo America is awarded a myriad of prizes, including a $10,000 educational scholarship, a wardrobe of Wrangler jeans and shirts, Justin Boots, Bailey Hats, riding equipment and accessories...just to name a few.
Lifelong friendships are made and many doors are opened to all contestants as well as the young lady selected to wear the coveted title of Miss Rodeo America. All become part of a great legacy...and part of history...yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
THE NATIONAL COMPETITION
During the week-long competition at the end of the year, the state rodeo queen contestants are judged equally in four categories: appearance, personality, horsemanship and knowledge & presentation. The scores from a contestant's public speaking ability, photogenic judging, interviews, extemporaneous questions, introductions, and fashion show presentation are included in the scoring process.
The HORSEMANSHIP COMPETITION is a vital part of the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Miss Rodeo America is introduced during professional rodeo performances, rides horseback in parades and makes countless other appearances where she is expected to ride an American Quarter Horse. During the competition, contestants draw for the horses they will compete on in each of the two rounds of horsemanship competition. These horses belong to Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Stock Contractors and so are unfamiliar to the contestants. They then perform one of the three set horsemanship patterns and one freestyle pattern.
In the APPEARANCE CATEGORY, contestants should be aware of what is fashionable western dress and be knowledgeable on current trends in the western wear industry. Other considerations are attractiveness and grooming—to include neatness and cleanliness in every detail. Meticulous care in general grooming is essential for a young lady to be considered for the title of Miss Rodeo America.
Intelligence and good common sense is a big factor in the PERSONALITY DIVISION. Education and conversational ability in professional rodeo current events and other areas is vital, with special emphasis on grammar and enunciation. A contestant should radiate self confidence, showing maturity, high moral standards, sincerity and integrity. Miss Rodeo America pageant contestants should have the ability to project personality, whether it be from horseback in an arena, on television, or before an audience. Also considered are sense of humor, showmanship, ambition, desire, enthusiasm and a happy outlook on life.
